Hyperformal Fun Times with Dancoyote Antonelli...

Here I am floating around one of DC Antonelli's favourite wading pools. This water lily is much more than a pimped up Monet-Motor - this stylish thingie is also part of some evolutionary species chain that DC himself designed....whoa! The initials for "D.C." might come to stand for "Darwinian Creationism" ;-)

Hey there Op Art Trippers, Hyperformal Attire Junkies and Abstract Expressionists,

Last night just before Fau Ferdinand dropped by my PR Office to repair the building's pixel cracks, I was hanging out for a brief yet fun time with the Hyperformal artist and Skydancer Supreme, Dancoyote Antonelli...

You may have read about him in the Second Life Guide. If not, here is a pic of him...



Anyways, DC showed me around his various exhibition/installation sites which included some very trippy Op Art at In Kenzo's place, AMO Island for the NMConnect Campus curated by Larry Pixel.

Speaking of pixel(s), DC and I discussed the definition of Hyperformalism...For DC, Hyperformalism is referring to artwork that appears to be the most "native" to the environment of Second Life. For him, his avatar is a kind of "brand" or "logo". I agree with him here - I am also a brand, trademark and logo :-)

In terms of the environment, his definition of Hyperformalism gets a bit tricky because DC does not like representational remediation but this gets problematic because culturally speaking, the most "native" form of SL experience involves a massive amount of first world remediation...the Metaverse for most is a pop-culture mirror-world...but anyways, I digress...

Pizza SLut!

Here I am in some kitchen about to personally deliver some piping hot panned pizzas to the NMConnect curator, In Kenzo. My co-delivery SLemale colleagues, Second Front carefully ensured that all the droopy toppings would be dripping with layers of cheesy art-theory!

Hey performance art and pizza SLuts,

Last night, Second Front performed our freshest performance called "Pizza SLuts".

All 8 of us were meeting curators, media CEOs and other VIPs from our combined friends lists to personally deliver them fresh SLices (or box or truckload) of singing pizza :-)

Most people enjoyed the pizza in the spirit of goodwill and fun but not everyone took our charity and hospitality to heart.

Some people at the World Stock Exchange even threatened to file abuse reports...sigh!

On the lighter side of the SLice, we greeted nOObs who were entering Orientation Island for the first time with pizza. We also personally delivered pizzas to In Kenzo and Ars Virtua's curator, Rubaiyat Shatner.

You could say that we were thinking "inside the box"...heee heee hee! :-D

Spawn of the Surreal

Hey there performance art fans,

Second Front's "Spawn of the Surreal" performance from February 11th, 2007 at the NMConnect campus has just been archived and blogged!

If you are feeling too lazy today to check out Second Front's official blog, then here is a very quick visual summary of what happened on this very surreal day:

Basically, we set up a whole babylonian cinema-plex with our Last Supper mural on the wall where a movie would normally be as a way to lure a whole bunch of avatars to take a seat...little did they know, these seats were rigged in order to mutate them into performance artists! It took hardly any time for us (acting as ushers) to get the audience to sit on enough seats for Gaz to pull the mutations script trigger for Great Escape to firebomb the place.

Procrastination is for painters ;-)

...after we were done watching our audience-spawn perform for us, we passed quickly through the Darfur sim on the NMConnect campus and then went to check out the ambient muzak concert by AldoManutio Abruzzo.

Here is another pic of the after-concert...I think I forgot to mention that we eventually mutated our own avatars once we left our own "Spawn of the Surreal" performance...ooops!
