Hyperformal Fun Times with Dancoyote Antonelli...

Here I am floating around one of DC Antonelli's favourite wading pools. This water lily is much more than a pimped up Monet-Motor - this stylish thingie is also part of some evolutionary species chain that DC himself designed....whoa! The initials for "D.C." might come to stand for "Darwinian Creationism" ;-)

Hey there Op Art Trippers, Hyperformal Attire Junkies and Abstract Expressionists,

Last night just before Fau Ferdinand dropped by my PR Office to repair the building's pixel cracks, I was hanging out for a brief yet fun time with the Hyperformal artist and Skydancer Supreme, Dancoyote Antonelli...

You may have read about him in the Second Life Guide. If not, here is a pic of him...

Anyways, DC showed me around his various exhibition/installation sites which included some very trippy Op Art at In Kenzo's place, AMO Island for the NMConnect Campus curated by Larry Pixel.

Speaking of pixel(s), DC and I discussed the definition of Hyperformalism...For DC, Hyperformalism is referring to artwork that appears to be the most "native" to the environment of Second Life. For him, his avatar is a kind of "brand" or "logo". I agree with him here - I am also a brand, trademark and logo :-)

In terms of the environment, his definition of Hyperformalism gets a bit tricky because DC does not like representational remediation but this gets problematic because culturally speaking, the most "native" form of SL experience involves a massive amount of first world remediation...the Metaverse for most is a pop-culture mirror-world...but anyways, I digress...

On the subject of remediation though, check out this very kewl version of Robert Anton Wilson's FNORD...

Increasing the Baud Rate on Odyssey!

Here I am with Dancoyote Antonelli checking out Lamb Lamont's and Ester Dreier's sculptural monument to legendary French philosopher Jean Baudrillard.

Hey performance art and philosophical sculpture fans,

Here is the official press release from Odyssey Island about the event I just attended a few hours ago...

Ester Dreier and Lamb Lamont are proud to announce that Jean Baudrillard has been caught while floating around the Odyssey art gallery.
Look at the amazing philosopher, take pictures and click on him to let him talk about death, life, and how is it to be a simulacrum!

Baudrillard will be available in Odyssey art gallery as long as we can retain his soul.

So there you have it... What we have is a floating Baudrillard which looks as if it is trying to be as high as a kite but is held down with theoretical chains...heheheh. I guess the Baudmeister thought about sims too heavily to appear floating around in Oyster Bay, eh? Heheheheheh.

Is it me or does the SL simulacrum of Baudrillard resemble Dick Cheney? Perhaps, Baudrillard himself is the hyper-real alt for Tricky Dicky? My fave part was when one of the audience members consecutively clicked on the Baudrillard sculpture zillions of times and managed to trigger off a slew of Baud-isms that drowned out the chat history entirely. If you plan to check out this sculpture, expect Baudrilliard to provide you with an automated monologue and do not plan to have a dialogue ;-)

Ok, check out these additional pix from the event...

Here is a close-up of me posing next to one of the Baud sculptors, Lamb Lamont. From what I understand, Lamont is an Italian artist but I could not find any information to support this on Google.

For this snap, I zoomed out to bit so I could take a pic of Ester Dreier. Strange that she does not seem to have any google hits either...sigh! Bryan Dix from the SL-Newspaper was also in attendence so maybe he found more info about that.

I managed to take a snapshot right at the moment when Dancoyote Antonelli for a sec there appeared to be leaving in a huff and saying that Odyssey Island should be showing more of his work. I plan to ask Sugar Seville and see whether or not DC can have his own space to play up in the higher altitude regions of Odyssey.

Ok, here is a general aerial view of the Baudrillard sculpture on Odyssey Island...

Dancoyote Antonelli's Zero-G Skydancers performed at NMConnect!

Here I am on the far left. I have no idea who most of the audience members are but they all seem to be fans of the Zero-G Skydancers...

Hey performance art fans!

Last night, I had the good fortune of attending a performance on NMConnect's "Learning" Campus by the Zero-G Skydancers. This is a performing arts troupe set up by the pioneering Second Life artist, Dancoyote Antonelli.

The dancers flew around the aestheticized sky so quickly, I was unable to take a picture of them... However, my intuition tells me that their performance resembled their official archived video from a previous performance at NMConnect in some way...

Here are some amateur snapshots that I had managed to produce...
This occured just as the skydancing performance had begun. Totally tubular indeed! I really enjoyed being bathed in this volumetric light show.

Here is an extreme aerial view of the Skydancing platform. I was not sure if the billboard with the numbers was meant to be a scoreboard or something. Which Skydancer won the most points? heheheheheheh! This looks like a more aesthetic and non-competitive sport so I am guessing they all got zeroes. It looks like some got more zeroes than others...heheheheh

Here is another audience pic. In the far right, you will see Second Front co-performer, Man Michinaga.

At first glance, this looks like an identical pic to the one above but then you will notice that our seats have changed colour! I guess it also true that I zoomed in a bit but I took this 2nd pic to illustrate (without having to set up my video camera) that there was alot of loco-motion going on at this event.

Ok, it was during this abstracted moment that I was positive that I saw one of the Skydancers fly by...maybe I was hallucinating? Looking at this astral pattern long enough, might cause a sensitive avatar like myself to see a stereo-grammatical dance routine after awhile... ;-)

This is my fave abstraction from the Skydancing event. I must say that I have always been a fan of vortex forms... it is my RL birthright.
